Asset: Codename 'Rampart'

This asset was recovered during an operation by a joint Otherworldly Threat Tactical Response (O.T.T.R.) and Containment Corp. field team targeting the Umbral Estate blacksite designated 'The Labyrinth' (see file CF-914551-90210b for after report.) Numerous entities and anomalous research materials were recovered during said deployment, including the subject denoted by the Umbral Estate as Subject No. 3014M.

Citing significant contribution by Subject No. 3014M to neutralizing Umbral Estate personnel after release, the joint task force recommended the subject, then-designated CZ-5001, to be suitable for active rehabilitation and integration into the O.T.T.R. elite response team among other assets.

Interstitial update: Per Dr. Stone, all personnel and clear channel correspondence and communication are instructed to refer to CZ-5001 only as his codename 'Rampart', or his chosen name Liam - citing CZ-5001 being extremely sensitive to being referred to by number or categorization as a subject, such as CZ-5001, or his Umbral Estate designation Subject No. 3041M.

Due to the nature of Rampart's internment and study under Umbral Estate supervision, continual psychological monitoring and psychiatric care have been established under the supervision of Dr. Stone, with secondary biological and medical examination and monitoring by Dr. Mishra (agent 'Bedlam') until further notice.

Following review by Containment Corp. administration and O.T.T.R. commander Rook, it was determined that CZ-5001 would be cleared as an active participatory asset. Given the joint agency involvement in liberating CZ-5001, it was noted as a uniquely rich opportunity for the potential cultivation of inter-agency loyalty and efficacy - with a recommendation by Dr. Stone to emphasize an angle of gratitude and debt.

Description:

Liam, A.K.A. Rampart, is a humanoid entity standing 2.38 meters tall, with a physiology ascribed to mythological accounts of a 'minotaur' - though the subject appears more strongly related to caprinae ovis rather than taurus. Rampart has a digitgrade stance with horns and hooves, along with full body coverage of white fur. Subject's already substantial stature possesses strength significantly beyond human norms and correlating with 'metahuman' level entities.

Analysis of Subject revealed evidence of a tail having been surgically excised as part of other substantial physiological modifications, as well as internal and sub-dermal implants. Subject possesses a capacity for highly accelerated cellular and tissue regeneration at a level deemed 'healing factor.'

In-depth internal analysis has documented multitudinous insertions, implants and replacements of physiological components through surgical experimentation, capitalizing on the Subject's rapid physical recovery through invasive procedures performed by Umbral Estate research and development personnel during his internment in 'The Labyrinth.'

Extensive efforts were undertaken by O.T.T.R. medical personnel after recovery to extract hazardous and deleterious implants, most notably a concentrated explosive charge embedded in Subject's spinal column. Per Dr. Stone, the attempted removal of further incorporated elements is inadvisable, noting extensive lingering distress following said procedures, as anesthesia was determined to have no effect on the Subject.

Due to the unusual nature of Subject's physiology and owing to a complete lack of cognizance or memory preceding his internment under Umbral Estate research, determining his origins have proven largely fruitless - however, Dr. Stone has noted a belief that the Subject is a younger specimen of his species and approximates a developmental level analogous to humans approximately nineteen to twenty one years old.

Dossier:

Rampart is a survivor of an extensive campaign of abusive and cruel research performed under the direction of the organization known as the Umbral Estate and its affiliates, and by all accounts available seems to have spent a majority of his life in their custody, prior to release.

Despite this, he has proven exceptionally amenable to integration with the O.T.T.R. initiative and has been receiving ongoing care and development since his retrieval and rescue. Rampart chose the name 'Liam' for himself when not designated by his assigned codename and has expressed a continued interest in exposure to human culture and society.

Interstitial note: At this time, Dr. Stone advises against permitting Liam to undertake unsupervised exposure to the civilian populace, owing to his 'monstrous' appearance and instruction from Containment Corp. administration to minimize and mitigate public awareness of inhuman entities.

Liam's eagerness for camaraderie and 'heroic justice' have made him an excellent candidate for training and controlled advancement in the O.T.T.R. initiative, though friction over a deep dislike of Containment Corp.'s methodology merits ongoing observation and precaution.

During field deployments, Liam has consistently presented an emphatic prioritization of the protection of any civilians who may be present and the prevention or mitigation of collateral damage whenever possible - often to the extent of interposing himself in harm's way to do so.

When not under active assignment, Liam has proven to be desirous of socialization and team-building exercises, and has developed a strong attachment to his handlers, support personnel, and his primary teammates agents Flashbang, Tripwire and Twitch.

Thus far, Liam has proven a deep loyalty to Rook and considers her responsible for his 'freedom' and rehabilitation.

O.T.T.R. R&D, particularly biological research under agent 'Bedlam', have benefited greatly from the cooperation of Liam in development efforts, and it is from said efforts that O.T.T.R. has been able to achieve breakthroughs in emergency medical care and recovery for field personnel. This has resulted in a notable reduction of casualties on subsequent operations.

Liam's treatment and rehabilitation remain an ongoing process and seem likely to require years of continued efforts in order to address what he has endured in his past.

Per Rook, any personnel who are discovered to display prejudice or denigration based on Liam's appearance, mannerisms or inexperience with modern human society will be dealt with harshly.

Current Status:

Liam's remaining augmentations and modifications, coupled with his significant strength and stature, have thereafter become the focus of an investiture of resources by O.T.T.R. R&D and weapons development, with his consent. These endeavors have been pursued in non-invasive methods wherever possible, and most center around his ability to carry a 120kg. power source during deployments.

Numerous 'modules' have been developed alongside this power source and work on conjunction with Liam's 'cybernetics' and other implants, allowing for tactical recalibrations and modifying his combat capabilities in a variety of ways depending on filling necessary roles.

Given the extensive costs associated with these developments, Administration requires a high prioritization for field personnel to recover and retrieve any components or modules lost or damaged in the course of deployments.

Deployment is recommended for any operation where a flexible balance of offensive and defensive measures and countermeasures are desired, and his modular capabilities afford a broad range of potential applications. Rampart is a highly affable team-player and has proven capable as a team leader in spite of his relative inexperience.
