Across the vast reaches of Antarctica, a century of expeditions and scientific undertakings have attempted to fully navigate and explore the vast, largely unknown world deep beneath the ice. While advances in satellite imagery and other technologies have heightened available study, the findings of those earliest (and ill-fated) documented discoveries left far more questions than answers.
A scientific team had been operating out of an arctic research site designated Outpost 34. For nearly a decade, this team has pursued all manner of modern and cutting-edge methods including deep-bore drilling, imaging tech and long-range sub-surface analysis.
Results had been fairly promising, though infrequently of particular note. However, a recent transmission indicated that a foray team had discovered remnants of what they believed to be the 1930 expedition of Dr. William Dyer and his explorers.
Adjusting the scope of their research with data left behind by Dyer's efforts, the team at Outpost 34 reported a breakthrough of potentially remarkable sites of interest. Following this report, all communication with Outpost 34 has since ceased.
Unknown interference and unusual sustained weather phenomena have rendered satellite imaging insufficient. A joint operation of teams with additional accompaniment are to deploy at earliest readiness, seek out Outpost 34 and its personnel, and review most recent data discoveries for additional sites of interest.
